Game Recap

Last night Edgewood and Harvey had our Kick for the Cure game in support of breast cancer awareness. We were able to help in the fight by raising money for this cause and we were honored to be included in the cause. We also enjoyed a fantastic team win. An early goal got us on top and helped our squad settle in. Adding another goal before the half set the tone for the rest of the match. The defense anchored our team and good goalkeeping was critical. A third goal in the second half was countered by Harvey bringing the match to 3-1. Harvey built their confidence after getting on the board and pushed it to 3-2. We were able to settle in for a late push, locked it down in the back, and still found the muster to get a late goal in the final minute to secure the win. A hat trick by Rowe, and a goal by Engelmann got the win on the scoreboard, but the defense, and players stepping up in the absence of Senior Nick Scarpitti, who we lost for the season last week due to injury, were crucial to this win. The coaches were very proud of our guys for the way the guys played tonight. Let’s keep this momentum rolling through the end of our final week of our regular season and a rematch with Harvey next week in tournament play.

Game Recap

We had our final AAC matchup last nigh with the Poland Bulldogs. We came into the game with a solid plan and executed that even after Poland went up a goal. Solid defense and goalkeeping kept it close as usual. Passing was much better and more frequent than the past couple games. More opportunities opened up for our forwards and mids, but were unable to capitalize. Some late second half injuries gave a couple younger players to step in and help out and they did not disappoint. We will be finishing off our regular season next week with a breast cancer awareness game Tuesday at Corlew Stadium, a make up half against Lakeview on Wednesday, and Senior Night against County rival Geneva on Thursday night. Come check it out!
